The Man That is a Beach
You might think I’m just
some fifteen-year-old boy
with blonde hair
and grey eyes
But I know I am
way more than that
not a rose or trolley,
nor puma or whale
I am Fort Morgan Alabama
the thin stretching peninsula
When the world is against me
or when I’m in a dejected mood,
when I’m angry at the world
or when I’m frustrated
I become Fort Morgan during hurricane season
constant rain, damp beaches, and dreary skylines
forcing the locals into their homes
depriving them of the beach
But when I become approachable
the dark skies retreat
families and friends spread out on my beaches
and present fun-filled screams and playful laughs
I become white sandy shores
teaming with seashells by the sea shore,
and warm sunny skies
until I get tired
and that’s when the fun-in-the-sun ends
like how day fades to night
Then I take a breath and the day starts over again
and again
and again
The blonde-haired grey-eyed boy
is Fort Morgan Alabama
a dark, sunny, surprising Fort Morgan all at one time.
